SNAP / EBT (Cal Fresh)
CalFresh (formerly known as Food Stamps) is for people with limited income, to pay for food at most stores. Benefits come on an EBT card that works like a debit card. CalFresh is a nutrition program, funded by the USDA, which also funds free lunches at schools and WIC. CalFresh is not the same as CalWORKs or welfare.
SSI (Supplemental Security Income)

NSLP (National School Lunch Program)
The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) is a federally assisted meal program operating in public and nonprofit private schools and residential child care institutions. It provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches to children each school day.
Public Housing Assistance or Section 8 voucher
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development manages Section 8 programs. The Housing Choice Voucher Program provides “tenant-based” rental assistance, so a tenant can move from one unit of at least minimum housing quality to another. Landlords are not required to participate in the voucher program.

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families is a federal assistance program of the United States. It began on July 1, 1997, and succeeded the Aid to Families with Dependent Children program, providing cash assistance to indigent American families through the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
